Subject: Christianity in Taiwan
The head of Yale's
East Asia Library has brought this resource to our attention:
"Prof. John Lai is a
long time colleague in the East Asian library community. I would
like to bring to your attention his ambitious digital archive
project. After retiring from the Harvard Yenching Library, Professor
Lai has been devoting his time and energy to write and publish the
archives of church history in Taiwan. He not only continues to
publish the archives in print, but has also developed a project to
digitize the archives with a searchable interface. These archives
are of significant research value in the study of early history of
Christianity in Taiwan. With his strong background in data
organization, cataloging and classification, he has included
authority control in his digital project to normalize personal names
and to optimize acurate data retrieval. I understand that his
digital archives include documents in Chinese, English, Japanese and
Taiwanese."
