BOSTON TAIWANESE CHRISTIAN CHURCH. BYLAW

Adopted: July 7th, 1988



Name The name of the congregation and its corporation shall be the Boston Taiwanese Christian Church.

Purpose The purpose of this congregation shall be the worship of God, the promulgation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our community, and the promotion of Christian fellowship among its members and adhere.

Affiliation This congregation is a part of the Reformed Church in America, and therefore the doctrinal standards, the church policy, the bylaws and rules, the procedures of the denomination shall be generally observed.

Members All communicant members of this congregation shall be members of its corporation and shall remain such as long as they continue to be members in good and regular standings *.

Consistory The consistory shall be the governing body of the congregation. Its members are the installed minister/s of the congregation, and the elders and deacons currently installed in office.

Elders and Deacons The number of Elders and Deacons shall be determined by the congregation and changed only by majority vote of the congregation.

Officers The consistory shall have a President, Vice-president, Stated clerk and treasurer. The minister of the congregation shall be, ex officio, the president and the other officers shall be elected or appointed by the consistory.

Trustees The members of the consistory shall be the trustees of the corporation and its officers shall be the officers of the congregation.

Commission There shall be some permanent and standing committees established by and responsible to the consistory. The President may appoint other special committees, as he/she deems necessary.

Congregation Meetings The annual meeting of the congregation shall normally be held on the last Sunday in January. Special meetings may be called by the consistory at any time, after given public notices on two successive Sundays proceeding the meeting. A special meeting must be held on written request of one-third of the (communicant) membership. A quorum for the transaction of business at any congregational meeting shall be 25 percent of the (communicant) members, eighteen year of age and older who are in good and regular standings. All issues shall be decided by a simple majority vote, except the calling of a pastor, constitutional changes, and some important matters (determined or defined by majority of members present) in which a two-thirds majority vote shall be required.

Church Organization The officers of all church organizations and church sponsored organizations shall be members of this church unless specifically approved by the consistory.

Amendments These bylaws shall be amended only by a two-thirds-majority vote of the congregation. * Non-communicant members who were accepted by the church prior to July 10, 1988 are special members with voting rights.
